Jessica Simpson is heading back to reality TV! This time, the hugely successful fashion mogul will be taking her place as a celebrity mentor on NBC's new show, Fashion Star.
Simpson, who famously documented her marriage to ex-husband Nick Lachey on Newlyweds and toured the word in The Price of Beauty, will be leaving her personal life out of this show. (Unfortunately, that means we're unlikely to see appearances by her super cute fiance, Eric Johnson.) Instead, the 30-year-old star will be coaching aspiring designers who are vying for a huge contract to launch their own fashion lines.
"NBC is delighted to work with singer, designer, actress and pop culture icon Jessica Simpson," said Paul Telegdy, NBC and Universal Media Studios executive vice president. "With an almost billion-dollar lifestyle brand under her belt she is sure to be an excellent mentor to our up-and-coming designers."
Supermodel Elle McPherson will be hosting the new show that NBC promises will be a "true spectacle." The series will be taped in front of a live studio audience and will feature a slew of music and dancers mixed in with the weekly challenges.
Sounds fun and just up Jessica's alley! We've always found Simpson down-to-earth and approachable -- not to mention goofy and adorably self-deprecating). And with her vast design experience, we think she'll be an awesome mentor for those trying to break in to the fashion biz.
